D7 moduli stabilization: the tadpole menace

نویسندگان

چکیده

D7-brane moduli are stabilized by worldvolume fluxes, which contribute to the D3-brane tadpole. We calculate this contribution in Type IIB limit of F-theory compactifications on Calabi-Yau four-folds with a weak Fano base, and able prove no-go theorem for vast swathes landscape compactifications. When genus curve dual D7 fluxes is fixed number grows, we find that D3 charge sourced grows faster than 7/16 moduli, supports Tadpole Conjecture Ref.~\cite{Bena:2020xrh}. Our lower bound induced decreases when curves stabilizing increase, does not allow rule out sliver flux configurations high-genus high-degree curves. However, argue most these have very high curvature, likely be above string scale except extremely large (and experimentally ruled out) compactification manifolds.

D-Moduli Stabilization

The matter sector of four-dimensional effective supergravity models obtained from the weakly coupled heterotic string contains many moduli. In particular, flat directions of the D-term part of the scalar potential in the presence of an anomalous U(1) give rise to massless chiral multiplets which have been referred to elsewhere as Dmoduli. The stabilization of these moduli is necessary for the d...

Moduli Stabilization from Fluxes

Compactifications of IIB string theory with internal NS and RR three-form flux are computationally attractive in that the lifting of moduli is via a perturbative and often explicitly calculable (super)potential. We focus on the T /Z2 orientifold, and provide an illustative N = 2 example. For other choices of flux, the resulting equations of motion can be solved to yield N = 0, 1, 2 or 3 supersy...

Moduli Stabilization with the String Higgs Effect

Abstract We review the notion of the Higgs effect in the context of string theory. We find that by including this effect in time dependent backgrounds, one is led to a natural mechanism for stabilizing moduli at points of enhanced gauge symmetry. We consider this mechanism for the case of the radion (size of the extra dimensions) and find that as decompactification of the large spatial dimensio...

Moduli Stabilization in the Heterotic/IIB Discretuum

We consider supersymmetric compactifications of type IIB and weakly coupled heterotic string-theory in the presence of G resp. H-flux and various nonperturbative effects. We point out that non-perturbative effects change the Hodge structure of the allowed fluxes in type IIB significantly. In the heterotic case it is known that, in contrast to the potential read off from dimensional reduction, t...

Stabilization of moduli by fluxes

One of the major problem appearing in compactifications of string theory, is the emergence of a continuous moduli space of string vacua. In order to get contact, not only to the standard model of particle physics, but also to (inflationary) cosmology, these moduli have to be fixed and if supersymmetry is broken only at fairly low energies, we have to understand the mechanism while preserving at...
